Very high end sushi bar. The way they prepare sushi is unusual for HK - very meticulous cutting of fish, very careful preparation of the rice. Overall, very good but not cheap!

With the high ceilings, the view from Harlans, like any of the other restaurants in The One, is amazing! Well, except K11 / Hyatt hotel is kind of in the way a bit. Actually, right in the middle.
Food is good, very good pizzas and pastas, and the foie gras is yum!

When I first arrived in HK, many friends told me Kenjo is the best sushi restaurant in town. I must say the quality of the fish is very good, but although I am not an expert, I think the sushi could be better made. Not worth the 1280 I was charged.

In the Peninsula is this very Chinese-style dark wood room filled with the yummiest Cantonese treats with Peninsula service style.
Highly recommend the peking duck and the fried chicken (both served 2 ways). The skin of both are so crispy and delicious! I could eat both birds on my own!

I was so ecstatic when I heard Kaika opening in HK that I immediately made a booking the following day.

The food is as good as it is in Ginza, with high-grade fatty beef, and the fried rice which has the little Japanese fish they add to give a nice taste and crunch.

It gets a bit smokey when it is busy (make sure you don't sit at the corner teppanyaki counters, as they do "factory-style" teppanyaki for those who do not sit at the teppanyaki counters, and it gets extra smokey). Probably better in the private rooms.

The set menu is very decently priced ($380 for US beef, and $700 for Japanese). Also liked the anago fish.

Great al fresco spot. Good for after work drinks. The tapas is not as good, but ok for some nibbles.

When you book, make sure you ask for downstairs, as the upstairs is cramped, and far too cold (from the air con).

Food is good, especially the fatty beef, and the very good soup base. But really, all the hotpot ingredients are good.

Does it deserve 3 stars, the only one in town? It will always be debated, but we come anyway, for the excellent dim sum, the really nice ambiance and sea view, and the 5 star service. Perfect for entertaining clients.

Ah Fai Gor has been dishing out his scrumptious fatty local beef for years. Seafood and balls are also recommended. Between his two shops, I still prefer the one in Kowloon City over the one in Wanchai. Seems the food is fresher.

Square has been around for years, and as part of the Maxim's group, has never failed to disappoint.
Great thing is that it is one of the few restaurants in the area where you don't have to book for lunch (but by writing this, I probably just jinxed myself).
Food is reliable, and the service is good too. Nothing fancy, just very solid Cantonese.

Great pigeons. Their selection of seafood is not bad either, but everything needs to be ordered in advance. Last time we went, nothing much was on offer, which was a bit disappointing. But the deep fried squid are excellent.
Make sure you don't go during summer time. It is far too hot a walk from the pier! Lazy me.

Great Asia, being a supplier as well for sashimi, has a great selection of fresh raw fish. Their portions are huge, and the sashimi is served thick-cut, if there is such a word.
Service is attentive, but anything special.
Unfortunately, the place is not decorated very nice. No warm feeling at all.

Gone are the days of smoke-filled izakayas in HK, and the air-con blasting is a bit unwarranted here. Guess it is the low ceiling? Food is very good though.

The fattiest beef from Miyazaki, the tastiest sashimi but quite pricey. Cool dark interior. Not very Japanese in service but very friendly waiters. Best deal is the all you can drink.

Best bit first - no corkage!!! Aside from BYOB, you should also ask for the menu when booking, and make some ordering in advance, as they often run out of items. Otherwise, the food is very good, and value for money.
