Coming here during hairy crab season is the best. The hairy crab "lion head" is worth busting your diet. Everything else is consistently great. I was very full but had to finish the meal with the pan fried eight treasure rice.

Came here for some braised goose and oyster omlette, fully expecting to be loaded with MSG (which translates to a slight headache a couple hours after the meal) All dishes were under-seasoned for Sun Kwong standard, and surprisingly I didn't have a headache afterwards! The braised goose was a little dry, although my dining companions didn't agree with me and thought it was just fine. The steamed whole fish in sour broth was superb. Very satisfying meal.

On a beautiful day such as today, brunch at The Grill is a joy, especially if you have AMEX Platinum or the Grand Hyatt VIP card. Nice food, top-notch professional and friendly service, and pleasant atmosphere. I overdosed on the liver pate and the Japanese cheese cakes. Those who like a glass of bubbly should take advantage of the $70 unlimited sparkling wine and selected cocktails. Would be even better if the salad selection were larger.

Although Tokoro is mainly a robatayaki / yakitori restaurant, don't miss the udon. The soup base is delicious and the texture of the udon is a little chewy but very silky (so you can slurp it in, making that noise like the Japanese people do) The grilled dishes were seasoned perfectly - very important. Service was spot-on, outstanding for Mongkok!

Came with a bunch of girlfriends from all over the world. The setting is tres chic, perfect for a girls night out, and the fact that we were given a table next to the window means we had a great view of our beautiful harbour. Perfect for those of us who are not from Hong Kong. Overall the food was very good, much better than the last time I visited, which was over 3 years ago.

A very very long wait at 7pm at ifc. Luckily most Sen Ryo are in shopping malls so one can always walk around. The seasonal specials are nice but they run out quite early in the day. The rest of the raw fish might not be freshest but because of high human traffic, at least you know it hasn't been sitting in the fridge for days. The crab miso soup is delicious and a great finish to the meal.

This place is packed at lunch, and only slightly less busy at dinner. However the pace is slower and our waitress had time to explain to us the special offers. Very polite and helpful. Food is quite average but not bad at all, given the price. Only slightly more expensive than lunch if you have HSBC or Citibank credit card.

Food - lots of shark's fin and abalone and bird's nest dishes but we didn't order any of that. Just deceivingly simple dishes. The starters were appetising. We had the Shunde Pan-fried Pork Ribs (2 orders!), and Deep Fried Yellow Fish (they ran out of "Nine Stomach Fish". These were good, but the ones at The Chairman were slightly better) The daily soup was intensely flavoured and soothing to the stomach.

We pre-ordered the fried chicken. It was fantastic. Tender, juicy, and taste like fresh chicken. The omelette with vegetables was browned on the outside and didn't look half as delicious as it tasted. Even the simple braised gourd ("Sing Gua") was tasty.

Service - I was skeptical at first, because the last time I was here, the service was snobbish and our table was pretty much ignored. This time though, the entire team of wait staff was helpful, attentive, and changed our plates at least 4 times. Even the infamous Miss E was nice and friendly!

Ambiance - too noisy for a family dinner. The tables are quite small so unless you get one of the private rooms on the 1st floor, stick to a small party. Also because the dining room is so small, it gets very noisy when the tables are filled. Having said that, I like the bright lighting.

Price - the bill was around $3500 for 8 people. We didn't order any of the expensive dishes, nor did we order seafood.

One of the best Chinese dinner I have had in the past 2 months.

Went to lunch because couldn't get a booking for dinner! So had very high hopes. Unfortunately I picked a Monday, which means there was no fresh delivery that day. The selection of fish was ok but not worth the $450 I paid for the 12 pieces of sushi. Nevertheless, the chef's skill was unquestionable. Each piece of sushi was perfectly "molded" and every piece was of the same size. I am thinking I should go back for dinner but have been told that the next available seat (sushi counter is the only way to go, and you must sit in front of the head chef. Would you pay Giorgio Armani price for an Emporio Armani suit?) is in a month's time.

Ambiance - minimalistic sushi bar decor with lots of wood. Huge sushi counter plus 3 small tables.

Service - pretty good. Nothing to write home about.

The only thing I don't like about this place are the high chairs; I can probably sit here for the whole afternoon if not for the uncomfortable chairs. Nonetheles, lingering at Pastis is a joy. The cozy restaurant is indeed very "French", and luckily the service is friendly and helpful. Everything feels rustic and authentic.

The onion tart and rillette are great starters, especially the latter as it's rare to find good ones in Hong Kong. The onion soup needs improving though. The Beef Bourguignon is ok, but I'm never a big fan so would be unfair to write it off.

Haven't tried the desserts; never have room for them!

There is nothing wrong with this place, but nothing spectacular either. Each floor is quite small (there are 3 floors to the restaurant) and on the top floor of the restaurant you basically eat by the kitchen, which is nice for some people who like to see the chefs in action.

The rest of the restaurant is rather low-key with unfussy decoration. At dinner, the use of spot-lighting creates a romantic atmosphere, whereby each table is "enclosed". During the day, this place is bright and cheerful, thanks to the natural light from Wyndham Street.

Back to the food; the starters are decent, the pasta very good, the meat / fish dishes very average. The pasta with scallops in truffle pesto is delicious.

Came with low expectation, as I don't care for the scrambled egg at Australia Dairy Company. As expected, the scrambled egg here is smooth and silky but not creamy. The milk tea tasted funny because Japanese full fat milk was used, instead of evaporated milk. However, there are a few dishes that are really yummy:
1) char siu macaroni - the broth is of a pale yellow and has more flavour than it looks. The char siu (rumoured to be from Joy Hing, the famous Chinese BBQ place in Wanchai) is tender with a bit of fat hanging between the meats.
2) Waffles - Japanese-style, served with condensed milk and a lot of butter. By a lot, I mean the holes are filled with butter and condensed milk. Absolute delight.

On the outside, this congee shop tucked behind Time Square looks pathetic - the "waiter" is in a tatty old t-shirt (what the Chinese call undergarment); the stools and tables are a bit shaky; the floor a bit dirty. Nonetheless, the food here is AMAZING. The congee is heavenly, what congee should taste like, without even a hint of cornstarch. The meatballs (pork) are so flavourful (without the help of soy sauce!) that I wonder how I used to survive on other meatballs.

The best part is that everything is MSG-free. Such rarity in Hong Kong, especially in Causeway Bay.

Despite the opening of other Vietnamese restaurants in the area (all claiming to be the king of pho) I still regularly come to this relatively old one. It is true that the quality dipped a while back, but it's back up again. The gigantic bowl of noodles (the signature dish, not the cooked/raw beef noodles) is satisfying. Dip the beef in the chilli sauce, the way the locals eat it. It goes very well with the noodles and soup. The dried "mung" with pork chop is equally tasty, although it is necessary to add a ton of fish sauce.

I'm grateful that the queue at dinner is not as long as before, but arrive after 9pm to be safe.

Haven't been back to Jaspas for years. Went to dinner last week and lunch yesterday. We ordered the ribs, mushroom pasta, beef fajitas and calamari for dinner. The ribs were huge, definitely enough for 2 and very succulent. Pasta was very tasty. The sauce for the calamari was delicious. Beef fajitas was a bit of a let down.

For lunch, I ordered the shrimps on toast with cheese. Perfect comfort food. Couldn't resist the banoffee pie. Too sweet so won't order that again (I make the same mistake every couple years)

Forget about the service and the ambiance; just focus on the delicious food. Nothing is fancy here, just honest good food. Highly recommended are the mud-fish congee (one portion is big enough for 2, if you also order other dishes) plum sauce crabs (order rice to soak up the tangy sauce) and pork cheek with pickled vegetables.

If you like Chinese corriander, order the shanghainese wo ntons. They are huge! I like to mix the vinegar with chilli oil and dip the wontons in the mixture. Absolutely divine. My top choice for comfort food.

Good marketing helps, and it certainly is no harm when the rich and famous park their expensive cars outside the place when they enjoy a bowl of wonton noodles. And then there is the tiny bowl of noodles. The soup base is flavourful and the texture of the noodles just right - the perfect thickness and with a bite - but the small pieces of wonton are just ok. A bit fishy, which means the prawns are not that fresh.

The braised goose meat is good, but not outstanding. There are 2 types of duck's tongues for those who are fans. Very expensive though. Get takeout to avoid the long wait. Also go early since many items get sold out quickly.

They have a variety of beef briskets on offer but try the "hang lam" and "song lam", which are much better than the usual cut. To cut the grease from the brisket, dip the pieces in chilli oil (if you can take the heat!) perfect for in-between meals and "Siu yeh"!

Forget about Hei Kee in Wanchai; Hing Kee is the real deal. From crabs with a ton of garlic to stir-fried clams, everything tastes fresh. The flavours are authentic "shelter" style.

The BEST Chinese meatloaf (steamed minced pork) in Hong Kong! Forget about the fat content because yes, a bite will clog your arteries but will also give meaning to life. The steamed egg custard with crab is also delicious. Skip the "hou sui gai" ("saliva chicken") because it doesn't taste like the real deal, though the chicken itself is good. Be prepared to queue for a table, and don't expect a comfortable environment (think wet floor, dishes piled up everywhere) It is clearly a family run business, so while service is not attentive, you can really feel the warmth.

This tapas joint used to be so crowded! Now only a quarter of the tables are filled. That didn't bother us because we were hoping for a quiet dinner. The garlic prawns and grilled chorizo (both daily special) were fantastic. The suckling pig was good but a little too sweet. Service was scarce - the waitresses were nowhere to be found.

I have always been a loyal customer of Rei Sushi, even since it opened a few years ago. Decent sushi and set lunch at decent prices (for Central anyway) The only problem was that it was difficult to book a table for lunch.

The recent move to second level at IFC is a great thing. The restaurant is bigger and there is a pretty nice view of the harbour. Menu is more or less the same, with great set lunch selection. More importantly, there are more tables, meaning they can accommodate more customers!

One small complaint - the new staff are completely clueless. Need serious training. Still, I'm coming back!

Hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant with cha-chan-tang style table arrangement and really dim lighting. Fantastic tong yam gung. The waiters and waitresses are Thai, which makes the experience more authentic.

Pick a table outside the bakery, near Harvey Nichols. You will have to order your food at the counter first but they will bring it to you so it's not really like a canteen. It's much more airy and comfortable than the dark interior inside. All the sandwiches are good, thanks to the fantastic bread.

Chef Quek is known for his creativity and he often combines his classic French cooking concept with ingredients that the locals are familiar with. The tomato consomme and the lobster pasta were EXCELLENT. Also great value for money, given the quality of food. Cannot wait to go back to try the white truffle menu.

Service was attentive and the staff are surprisingly knowledgeable. A very pleasant experience overall.

Was really looking forward to the meal as this is one of the oldest and most authentic Sichuan restaurants in town. The kitchen has adjusted the spiciness of the dishes to suit the local's palate so if you want something authentic and truly spicy, make sure you tell the waiter when you place your order.

So the food is good and the service quite friendly, the equally friendly prices are just the icing on the cake. Will definitely return in the near future.

Typical Cantonese restaurant - noisy, rished service and greasy food, but greasy food is my guilty pleasure, and that's what keeps me coming back.

The Miramar Mall one is miles better than the one in Central, but both need renovation asap!

Roast pigeons are excellent - juicy, tasty and served piping hot. Get half a pigeon per person if are prepared to order other dishes, but I wouldn't bother if I were you. The rest are just ok. Go for the pigeons and head next door for some chicken congee!

Although the restaurant also serve Cantonese dim sum at lunch, their Sichuan dishes are authentic (very spicy! Tongue-numbingly so!) and the menu is quite extensive. Friendly, "neighbourhood" service.

And the answer is yes. This is not to say I'd go back every week, but I highly recommend it to anyone who likes delicate Japanese fare.

Watching the chefs at work was fun. The head chef (who used to work at Nobu in London) would show you step by step how to cook a certain dish, so that you may attempt to replicate it at home. (yeah right) Wagyu Kaiseki Den is, without a doubt, a Japanese fine-dining restaurant but luckily it doesn't have the stuffy formality.

10 courses of great food, ending with the delightful uni truffle rice, which is served piping hot in a claypot. I was in heaven...until I saw the bill. I would still go again!

Caprice has only been open a few years but it has reached the same ranking as Gaddi's - not just excellent food but also reliable quality (unlike many hotel restaurants in Hong Kong) Only complaint is that it feels a little stuffy at times. But then that's what French fine-dining is about.

I used to be a fan of West Villa and would come here for dim sum every Saturday. But the food has deteriorated. still good but does not justify the price.

Because of the convenient location, this Maxim's joint is always packed at lunch. Very quiet at dinner though. The food is quite oily but tasty (MSG?) and although the service is rushed, the staff are mostly polite.

It's puzzling why people choose this place for lunch. People on the level above are starring at you while you munch on over-priced food.

Was there for dinner last night. Menu was not outstanding but decent. The staff needs serious training. The floor manager tried to be friendly but he wasn't very natural so made the rest of us a little uncomfortable. The staff also didn't know what to do with the black truffle so we had some delicious mac and cheese with a few pitiful ROLLS (rather than paper-thin slices) of truffle.

However, the lobster roll was delicious, and the burger very tasty. The music was too loud but that also makes it a good date place because couples will need to lean towards each other.

My friends and I would go back, but not till the staff are properly trained.

Authentic yakitori joint atmosphere but not smokey. Extensive menu. The beef cube takes a while to prepare but very good! Half order is good for 2 people.

The setting and the clientele were very New York, very SJP. The brunch food they serve - eggs benedict, full breakfast and croque monsieur, fresh OJ with ice(the ice ruined the OJ towards the end) etc. - was pretty decent, but nothing to write home about. It's easy to spend an afternoon there, sipping coffee and reading magazines.

Very fresh seafood, including prawns and crabs. Some dishes are really small so ask before ordering. The steamed rice in lotus leaf with duck sauce was highly recommended by a friend but turned out to be very ordinary. Service can be a hit and miss.

I had the set lunch, which was not good enough to lure me back. The food wasn't BAD but wasn't good either. Very expensive for such quality. Soup comes in a tea pot, and the waiter pours it into the bowl placed in fron of you, filled with bits of food. The tea pot holds one and a half bowl, and since 4 of us ordered soup, the waiter had to rush back to the kitchen to fetch for more soup. Not so fancy. In terms of ambiance, it's in the middle of a shopping mall so people get to stare at you like you're a pet. The uncomfortable lighting makes it worse. Difficult to talk coz' people can eavesdrop...and I don't just mean the people at the next table.
