Cheese and Wine for $100
Classified's two outlets, The Cheese Room and the Mozzarella Bar, have introduced a summer special. At The Cheese Room you get to try one cheese from a choice of three and a glass of wine for $100, and at MB you can enjoy a Fedele Bufala Mozzarella Salad and a glass of wine for $100. The offer is available Monday through Friday.
Japanese A5 Beef
Inagiku Japanese Restaurant at the Four Seasons now has a recommendations menu that features prime beef of the highest grade - A5, from Miyazaki, Japan. Recommended dishes include Miyazaki Beef Sukiyaki Small Pot, Miyazaki Beef Shabu Shabu Small Pot and Miyazaki Beef Steamed Rice. And of course, the unique taste of Miyazaki beef can be best enjoyed in teppanyaki - rib eye, sirloin and tenderloin steak.
Also new to the restaurant is a selection of seasonal seafood. Items worth a special mention include Flathead Sashimi, Hokkaido Hairy Crabs and Conger Eel Small Hot Pot, and abalone dishes such as Steamed Abalone Japanese Style, Steamed Abalone Rice, and Abalone and Sesame Bean Curd Soup.
New Nobu Cooking Classes
Nobu continues its popular "Sushi Saturday Cooking Classes" during the second half of 2009. In addition to the fall series of introductory classes (White Belt), ideal for both Nobu lovers and sushi-making novices, Nobu is introducing "Sushi Saturdays - Level 2 (Yellow Belt)", for Nobu fans who have previously participated in one of the introductory classes.
At the "Sushi Saturday - Level 2 (Yellow Belt)" classes Chef Oyvind and his executive sushi chef Hikedi Endo will demonstrate how to make some of the restaurant's signature hot dishes, followed by a hands-on experience preparing a selection of Nobu's speciality "finger food" - ideal for at home entertaining.
Only eight participants per class so book early. White Belt classes: 22/8, 19/9, 24/10, 28/11; Yellow Belt classes: 29/8, 26/9, 7/11. Each class is 1,488 per person.
Justin Quek Hits HK
Noted chef Justin Quek is coming to Hong Kong to be involved in new French restaurant, The French Window that is set to open in September. It will replace Lumiere, which closes at the end of this month. More details to follow at the end of the month. Also being opened later this year by the same group is French restaurant, Whisk, at The Mira.
New-Look Man Ho
Chinese restaurant, Man Ho is re-opening on 12 July, with a new look and a new menu. Word has it that both will be impressive. If you go please publish your thoughts on our website.
Marouche Grill SoHo
Marouche Grill has opens its second restaurant, this time on Elgin Street. The Lebanese Restaurant and Shisha Bar uses only imported ingredients, and the dishes contain no additives or preservatives. The restaurant says that the menu stays true to its origins with authentic recipes presented with a contemporary twist in a stylish, yet relaxed environment that blends the best of the Mediterranean with the choicest of the West.
The 60-seat restaurant is divided into four destinations: "The Restaurant" seating up to 30 diners, "The Chef's Table" seats six guests kitchen-side where the chef introduces the dishes via a verbal "show and tell" style menu. Upstairs, "The Terrace" accommodates up to 16 people, while "The Shisha Room" offers an intimate environment for private occasions for up to 16 diners.
Open for lunch and dinner, signature dishes include Hommos Beirut (pureed chickpea with hot pepper, parsley, tahini and lemon juice), Moussaka (fried aubergines baked with tomato, onion, chickpeas and sweet peppers), Falafel (deep fried beans and fine herb croquettes served with tahine sauce) and Mixed Grill (char-grilled skewers of seasoned minced lamb, marinated beef and chicken cubes served with a garlic sauce).
A Set Lunch menu is offered daily for $68 (for two courses) or $88 (three courses) or $118 (four courses).
Blue Bar Lunch
The now non-smoking Blue Bar will introduce a Blue Bar Lunch Break on 17 July. On offer will be a wide selection of homemade soups, salads, freshly-baked breads and quiche, daily roasts, Asian curries, tempting desserts, and more. And from now until the end of August, celebrate summer with a free glass of champagne.
The lunch is served daily at a price of $250 per person.
Spotlight on Angus Beef
The Lobby Lounge (Prince Hotel) has designed a menu featuring Angus beef speciality items including Grilled Rib Eye with Asparagus, Vine Cherry Tomatoes, Truffle Cream Potatoes and Port Wine Sauce; Roast Tenderloin with Trumpet Mushrooms, Potato Gnocchi and Morel Sauce; Roast Sirloin with fresh Basil Pesto and Sautéed Vegetables in Green Pepper Cognac Sauce; and Braised Beef Brisket in Red Wine Sauce with Vegetable Medley and Red Onions.
Angus Beef Light Lunch Buffet is available Monday to Friday from 12.00nn to 2.30pm, whilst Angus Beef Fiesta Light Dinner Buffet is available daily from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
Hairy Crab Sushi
Inagiku Japanese Restaurant at The Royal Garden now has a selection of seasonal specialities from Sapporo, Hokkaido. Available at lunch and dinner, the dishes include thinly sliced fresh Sea Octopus Sashimi, Otaru Chirashi Sushi Rice with Salmon Roe, Zuwai Crab and Sea Urchin, Surf Clam Sashimi, Teppanyaki Otaru Abalone, and Live Scallop Tempura. Highly recommended by the executive chef is the original Steamed Hokkaido Hairy Crab. In addition to this, chef Fukata has also created Hairy Crab Sushi. This uses crab meat, crab legs and crab roe.
Kids Eat Free
Thanks to the smoking ban parents can now feel free to bring their kids to the Dickens Bar at the Excelsior. What's more they eat for free. Children under 12 who accompany an adult for the Pub Brunch or Sunday Carvery Lunch Buffet will eat free of charge. The brunch menus now include additional children's favourites such as mini pizzas, mini burgers, candies and lollipops. What's more, drawing books and crayons will be available for children, and a fluffy toy will be given to children under six. The Pub Brunch includes unlimited beer, while the Carvery Lunch includes free flow beer and bloody mary.
