Valentine's Day is regarded as one of the most romantic days of the year. Many people have been anticipating this day for weeks, whereas some have been dreading it all year. Couples who are in a serious relationship might be thinking about spending their lives together "forever". Domani offers a "Forever Together 1314" menu, a 5-course set dinner available for $1,314 per person on Valentine's Day. A little steep even for Valentine's day, but the menu does feature a variety of seafood, including oysters of course, and Sicilian red prawn tartare. The menu continues with a tagliolini with langoustine and saffron, as well as Wagyu beef striploin. The hot chocolate cake with berries and yoghurt ends the night on a sweet note. The way to a man's heart is through his stomach; maybe this applies to women too?

When people think of romantic dinners, it is usually a Western meal complete with candle light and roses because after all, Valentine's day is a "Western" tradition. If you are not a fan of heart-shaped steaks and a bottle of red, fret not. On the 28/F of Hotel Icon, start your Valentine's day at Above and Beyond with a glass of Champagne before indulging in 7-course decadent Cantonese dinner that showcases the restaurant's signature dishes. Living up to its name, Above and Beyond offers diners a gorgeous view of Victoria Harbour from high above, perfect for any day of the year but especially apt for Valentine's Day. Not a bad backdrop for a proposal either!

Or how about an exotic Valentine's Day? In Bollywood movies, love is celebrated through singing and dancing. After all, Kamasutra is an ancient Indian Hindu text so the Indians must know a thing or two about love! You too can declare your love with the Royal Lovers Feast at Gaylord. Aside from a scrumptious Indian meal, have fun with henna tattoos on your hands and feet, an amusing Indian tradition usually done before weddings. However, just so you know, henna tattoos don't come off with just a couple showers and you will be reminded of the evening for a while.

Valentine's day activities do not have to be limited to evening only. Cafe Gray Deluxe at Upper House collaborates with Jo Malone to launch a Red Roses Afternoon Tea to celebrate Valentine's Day during the month of February. Red roses are the epitome of romance, as it is also the name of the famed brand's latest perfume, with key perfume notes of roses, lemon and mint. Café Gray Deluxe incorporates these key elements into the savories and sweets of its special afternoon tea set, featuring Lemon-lime tartlette and miniature lemon poppy seed pound cake with lemon zest confit; a Rose-raspberry macaron, as well as a delightful Mint, Watercress and chicken finger sandwich with a mint yogurt raita. Other notable treats include Golden Raisins Scones and a toasty Mini Pastrami sandwich. Accompanying the afternoon tea set is a complimentary hand massage consultation at Jo Malone's flagship store at the Pacific Place. The Red Roses Afternoon Tea Set is priced at $185 for one and $345 for two.

If you are one of those really cheesy ones, and I mean that literally, don't miss the heart-shaped cheese available at Classified. Coeur de Neufchâtel comes from northern Normandie in France. Because of its heart shape, it is perfect for this romantic day. Its taste and texture is similar to its well-known cousin Camembert. Wonderfully light and creamy, enjoy it at home with a Reisling from Alsace. Available from February 12 to 14.

It is true that you cannot buy love, but a good meal can get you quite far. Flowers, chocolate, teddy bears and the whole nine yards might seem gimmicky but now is the time to reap in some brownie points! Charm her with ideas and effort. Most of the time - and the emphasis is on most - it is what money can't buy that is the most precious.

On February 14, Linguini Fini at L Place will accept reservations for a romantic night out for couples, while walk-ins can fill the recently opened bar area on the ground floor. Couples can enjoy specials from the black boards. Notable items include I Heart Parmigianna (breaded fried pork heart, mozzarella, tomato sauce on spaghetti) and Rib Eye alla Fiorentina, a 24oz bone in rib eye, braised greens roasted lemon citronette. The Strawberry Layer Cake with farm fresh strawberries, vanilla mousse and black sesame gelato is a special dessert served only on the night of Valentine's Day.

Similarly at Posto Pubblico couples can enjoy a special selection of dishes including a Panna Cotta with Red Velvet Croutons, local Strawberries and Chocolate sauce as dessert. Those who fancy sweet endings can sample the restaurant's white chocolate or dark chocolate sweetheart cookies available by the box of 12 for $88. Pre-orders are taken until noon on Saturday, February 11th and can be delivered for an additional $20. Payments for pre-ordered boxes and deliveries can be made at either Posto Pubblico or Linguini Fini. Individual cookies ($10 each) and boxes of 12 are ready for purchase on February 13 and 14 at Linguini Fini.
